While the holidays are now mostly over and business traditionally goes into a bit of a quiet time, this might just be the perfect time to spruce up your website and socials. It’s a great time to take stock of your business model and plan for the year ahead.
Website
Do you have a business website? Time for a little once over? Here are a few things to consider:
- Update banners
- Check and update your contact details
- Do you need to update or add a few new photos?
- Don’t forget to change over your copyright date.
- Do you have a Mission Statement? Does it still align with your values and business model?
- Check for broken links
- Perhaps even look at updating your SEO? Not really sure HOW to write SEO for your website? Maybe now is a good time to take an online class or do some tutorials to help out.
Social Media
Are your vision and your business model clear? Sometimes over the year, our message can get a bit lost. This quiet downtime could be a great opportunity to take stock and re-evaluate. Do you still have the same business goals you did last year or the year before? Have you been posting value-adding content on your socials or just stuff? I must admit toward the end of the year I am just posting Christmas stuff, no value-add there. So now, I am mapping out my plans for the coming months.
Scheduling & Planning
Do you use a scheduler or a monthly planner for your socials? Hootsuite, Later, Planoly, or kicking it old-school with an Excel spreadsheet? It’s all a great idea. Map out a monthly theme or ideas you wish to cover. Have you got new promotions to offer in the new year? Plan out a launch for the next few months. Perhaps you have multiple offers. If you have no offers, perhaps you should think about a value-add to offer your clients. It doesn’t have to be big, splashy and expensive. Some small you can give away as a lead generator. But nothing too trashy either. People appreciate a small gift, but they get a bit huffy if your offer is a complete joke.
I have had various offers and giveaways in the past:
- Sign up for the email list and receive a FREE PDF e-Booklet (I have several on photography and such)
- Try out a free online mini-class
- Sign up for a product and receive a discount voucher
- Sign up for a product with a friend and each receives a discount (buy one get one free type of thing)
What you use is entirely up to you and your business model, they are just a few ideas. But I really do think that going over your website and socials is a good idea, at least once a year, if not more.
