Three easy steps to set up your art store with wall art mock-ups

I’m going to show you the basics of how you get your art store up and running with this new feature from SlickPic. For a detailed walk-through of how to get your SlickPic Premium Web Store up and running, work through the process here.

These are the steps (see more on each below):

  1. Create Price Sheets for the kinds of prints you will sell (e.g. canvasses, digital downloads, framed prints etc).
  2. Create Categories to collect together the photos that you are selling in these different formats (e.g. Architecture, Macro Flowers, Landscapes, etc).
  3. Add the Shop page to your website to display the all the products.

The Product Grid: Price Sheets are different to the Individual Products that you can sell on SlickPic. There’s a lot of flexibility to how you can use products in your SlickPic store, and the Product Grid is fantastic for selling the same set of options for a collection of photos.

Step 1: Start by creating the price sheet for your SlickPic Premium Web Store

The Price Sheet is step one in getting your artwork ready to sell. Because Product Grids are globally priced, when you need to update pricing or add a new offering, it’s all done in one place. Keeping your prices accurate is important for client trust (and your bank balance). SlickPic has made this easier by keeping it all together. It also avoids repeating the same pricing tasks for every product you sell.

Adding additional sizes, frames, and so on, is super quick and easy because you add it once to the Price Sheet, and it’s automatically synced across all the products using that Price Sheet.

Let’s set up Product Grid: Price Sheets to prepare the backend information for you to display the Product Grid on your SlickPic website. After logging into SlickPic go to:

Website Manager > Manage > Website Store > Product Grid: Price Sheets

Product Grid: Price Sheets are where you generate automatic mock-ups and specify what kind of things you’re selling for each of your artwork.

Add a new Price Sheet and give it a name (e.g. Canvas prints). Click Add Product to add each kind of thing that you’ll be selling here: 16×20 prints, 14×18 prints, and so on.

This is where you Generate mock-ups for product. Using the Width in inch and Height in inch option, you can automatically generate how your art print will look and show customers exactly what size they are buying.

Select the mock-ups you want for your Price Sheet item and the mock-ups will be generated automatically for each art piece.

I suggest choosing the mock-ups to suit the size of the print. Large spaces for large prints, and Closeup, Medium table, etc, for smaller prints. The beauty of this feature is that you can review how the mock-ups look in your Store and instantly remove or add different mock-ups to best showcase your product.

Step 2: Next, create Categories to make collections of photos to sell

Categories are the collections of photos that you want to sell in your Store. For example, Landscapes, Abstracts, Still Life, and so on. Click into:

Website Manager > Manage > Website Store > Product Grid: Categories

Then click Add new to create a new Category. The Category Name is for your reference and not visible to customers. Description of the category shows up underneath each photo’s Product description and is the same for each product.

You can add a universal category description, as well as a product description and short description for each product.

Next, Add product to select the photo to sell. Select photo from your Organizer and then check the boxes for the Price Sheets (i.e. the sizes and types of print — Canvas, Digitals, etc) you want to offer. (You can opt to do a one-off Single Product here as well, if you want to create pricing that doesn’t need to apply to any other product.)

Step 3: Add the Shop page to your website

Now you’re ready to add the Store to the site. Go back to:

Website Manager > Edit

Click Add Page and call the page “Shop” or “My Store,” etc. Now add the Product Grid and choose your Category to display:

+ icon > Sales > Product Grid > Select Product Grid

Save and your Store is populated with your products!

Enhancing your SlickPic Premium Web Store even more

There’s so much you can do with your SlickPic Premium Web Store. Here’s some ideas on how you can use your Store to add revenue to your photography business:

  • Sell prints! This is what auto mock-ups are magic for. Put your photos in context so clients can see how they’ll look in their home.
  • Sell photo packages: Set up Price Sheets for each kind of package you offer (e.g. 1 hour photoshoot, 2 hour photoshoot, etc). Categories can be used for different styles (e.g. In Studio photoshoot, Lifestyle photoshoot, Styled photoshoot, etc).
  • Sell gift vouchers: Set up the Price Sheet for different amounts. Use Categories to load up different digital designs that customers can choose for their gift voucher (e.g. a Christmas themed card, Valentine’s Day theme, For Him, For Her, etc).
  • Sell coaching or lessons: Price Sheets for hourly rates or packages, and Categories for topics (Landscape photography, Street photography, etc).
  • Add Individual Products to your Store (little more about this below!) for things like PDFs, presets, videos and more.

Use Custom Preview Images in your SlickPic Premium Web Store

To get even more creative with your product pages, use Custom Preview Images when setting up your Product Grid: Price Sheets. You’ll find the button when you add a product to the Price Sheet.

These display after all the mock-ups for the product. These are perfect for showing customers more detail of what they’re buying, like timber of the frame, canvas wrap thickness, and so on.

Adding additional views to show what customers are buying is possible with Custom Preview Images.

Generating triptych images using SlickPic automatic wall mock-ups

Another really cool enhancement to your product offerings is automatic generation of triptych images. Select this checkbox when setting up Product Grid: Price Sheets and your mock-ups will be created with the artwork displayed as split triptych images.

The difference between Individual and Product Grids in your SlickPic Premium Web Store

Individual Products and Product Grid products are the two ways that you can set up products in your store. Both can be used to sell digital downloads, delivered straight from your SlickPic Organizer, with no extra effort on your part. They can also be used for self-fulfillment products like canvasses, framed prints, and so on.

Product Grids are great for wall art and digital downloads of the photos in your Organizer. It’s the easiest way to load up bulk collections of art to sell to your clients. Each product is one of your photos from your Organizer. You can also use it to sell photo packages, workshops, event tickets, gift vouchers and more.

Individual Products have added flexibility. It can still include a photo from your Organizer. As well as this, though, you can also include a ZIP of anything else you want to sell too. Images, PDFs, Lightroom presets, workshop videos … the sky (and 50MB in total for each product) is the limit!
