Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 lens
Recommended by Photofocus Team | Read Review | $1,299; available via B&H
A fresh, new photographic expression unleashed by 50-400mm zoom range. An ultra-telephoto zoom lens for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras with added versatility that starts at 50mm and delivers an 8x zoom ratio, that certainly packs a punch.
Nikon Z fc (with 28mm lens)
Recommended by Ken Lee | $1,197; available via B&H
Think of this as a Nikon Z50 APC-S mirrorless camera in a rangefinder body. With a variable-angle screen, a great balance of retro and new, and high quality, and a 20.9MP sensor, it’s a fun camera for street photography and more. You are able to use full-frame Z-mount lenses as well as all the legacy lenses via the FTZ adapter. And with Tamron making lenses for Nikon Z-mount, there promise to be more lenses on the horizon. Oh, and the “f” and “c?” “F” is for “fusion” (old and new), while “c” is for “casual.”
Fotopro E6L tripod
Recommended by Bob Coates | $1299; via B&H
My favorite tripod of all time. Has a dish that allows you to get level in a snap. You can point the camera straight up or down. The gimbal is so smooth that tracking wildlife is wonderful. It also can double as a video pan with the included handle. I like this tripod so much, I became an Ambassador. Oh, did I mention that the carbon fiber legs are stiff, light, waterproof and sand/dirt-proof?
BenQ SW271C monitor
Recommended by Lauri Novak | Read Review | $1599; available via B&H
A 27-inch monitor that’s geared toward photographers and videographers alike. It has two extra USB ports which is quite useful.
Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM lens
Recommended by Julie Powell | Read Review | $1798; available via B&H
Still my favorite portrait lens hands down. Absolutely gorgeous to work with, and the photos are simply divine. So if you are looking to grab a new lens for portraits you might want to consider looking at the Sony 85mm GM.
Olympus OM-1 camera
Recommended by Bob Coates | $2199.99; available via B&H
Well, this one is for me. I really like the micro 4/3rds format. I haven’t gotten this camera as yet but it’s on my radar. I have a couple of OM-D E-M1 Mark III cameras and would like to step up to the OM-1 for its increased dynamic range and animal tracking among other things. So Santa? If you see this I’d appreciate one being under my tree!
Sony a7RV camera
Recommended by Julie Powell | $3898; available via B&H
The brand new Sony a7RV has just been released in time for Christmas, and it looks from all accounts to be one amazing camera. In-camera focus bracketing, high-resolution sensor and a tone of other fabulous features. I have not had an upgrade in some time, so Santa, if this gets put under my tree I will be one happy photographer!
